Why the 80's were better: EXHIBIT #1
If you look at the movieʼs that are coming out or have come out in recent years youʼll see some of these titles: Dukes of Hazzard, Dallas (casting is just about done), Knight Rider (tv movie), Indiana Jones, Die Hard, Beverly Hills Cop (in talks of another sequel), Scooby Doo and Miami Vice. Also, there is some speculation about another Ferris Buellerʼs day off, Bill and Tedʼs Excellent Adventure and the A-Team being made into movies. With all of the technology in movie making with special effects, advancement in sound, and better picture quality that it would be easier to come up with ideas for movies. Almost anything can be created or played out with a movie camera, a green screen and a computer. Yet all you see are studios desperately clinging on to our nostalgia to get us to the theaters and produce some big money movies. Why is that you ask? Weʼll tell you why. The 80ʼs was ahead of itʼs time. The movies today are all special effects with no story and no depth. The 80ʼs might of lacked on some of the technology we had today but the movies actually kept you interested and didnʼt try to distract you with car chases, naked women and explosions. Two things that the 80ʼs had that todays major studios lack: Creativity and Imagination. In my opinion it is sad because they canʼt even get the remakes or sequels right.
Everyone tries to replicate the best and if we go by the movies that would be the 80ʼs. IMO.
